Commission rules are divided into sections that group similar topics together. The sections and a brief description are listed here with links to that section on the Texas secretary of State's Web Site.
Title 37 of the Texas Administrative Code
- Part 7, Chapter 211 -- Administration (includes definitions used throughout the rules)
- Part 7, Chapter 215 -- Training (requirements for training providers and enrollment standards)
- Part 7, Chapter 217 -- Licensing (basic training and other requirements for licensees)
- Part 7, Chapter 219 -- Examinations (requirements for attempting a licensing exam)
- Part 7, Chapter 221 -- Proficiency Certificates (requirements for certificates)
- Part 7, Chapter 223 -- Enforcement (actions taken by Commission against licensees)
- Part 7, Chapter 225 -- Special Licenses (requirements for contract jailers and medical peace officers)

The Commission is empowered by legislation to create rules for the oversight of law enforcement agencies by the Occupations Code, Title 10, Occupations Related to Law Enforcement and Security, Chapter 1701, Law Enforcement Officers. A link to this chapter is provided below.
