In an effort to reduce the number of deaths and injuries resulting from vehicle pursuits, ALERT International and IADLEST are partnering to provide a comprehensive pursuit policy program.
This effort addresses law enforcement vehicular pursuit policy issues, including factors to consider when initiating, conducting, and terminating a vehicular pursuit. Procedures discussed in pursuit policy workshops are consistent with the International Association of Chiefs of Police guidelines.
Recognizing that pursuit driving is a very dangerous activity, police departments around the United States have begun to change their perspective of pursuits and their understanding of pursuit policy and training. This research has prompted programs such as this, which encourage departments across the country to analyze current pursuit policies and training requirements.

The Child Abuse & Neglect Training Program for Law Enforcement is funded by a grant from the Children's Justice Act of Texas. This program is administered by the Training & Research Institute for Professional Law Enforcement (TRIPLE) with input from a statewide curriculum committee comprised of representatives from law enforcement, child protective services, children's advocacy centers, and victim services. The program developed a comprehensive training curriculum covering crucial aspects related to law enforcement's response to child abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The program will utilize a network of certified instructors to deliver training on a local basis, thus enabling more officers to take part in this very important training.
A rise in child deaths related to child abuse and neglect has been recognized in Texas. There have also been significant changes among Texas laws, technology, and investigative techniques regarding child abuse and neglect. Officers are in need of adequate, affordable, and up-to-date training on how to better respond to and investigate child abuse and neglect.
